Already a pet owner or breeder? Start at Step 3
Step 1) Determine how many mice you want to keep
This step informs the rest of the process including the size of enclosure that you purchase to how much food you will expect to go through monthly.
If you want only one mouse as a pet, get a male. Mice are social creatures but males will fight each other, so males must be kept alone or with a group of females (which will result in babies). Because of this a single buck mouse can be very sweet because they are a bit lonely, so
If you want a group of mice, females should be kept in groups of 3 or more. We only sell females in groups of 2 or more, to ensure that they are not alone unnecessarily during the quarantine process, and that is for replacing females in an existing colony. Please purchase 3 or more if you are getting a new colony as pets.
Step 2) Prepare the enclosure and get bedding, food, and enrichment
Please read our guides on basic Housing, then Food and Bedding, and finally Enrichment. Have all of this ready before you sign up to purchase your pet mice. Read our Health Testing and Guarantee page.
Step 3) Check the Available Mice page or sign up for the Wait List
We frequently have young does or bucks available, or retired breeders up on our website. If you do not see the line or colors that you want when you check the Available page, please fill out the Wait List. This will ensure that you are part of a select group that gets notified first when we have new stock available.
Step 4) Order your mice
Write down or copy all of the ID Numbers for the mice you want to reserve (ex. "GSP-B-V-2618-02D"). Visit the Order Form to submit your reservations.
Step 5) Arrange to pick up your mice
You will be contacted shortly after placing your Order Form via the contact method you have selected. You have one week to pick up your mice from the date you submit your form, or your reservation will be canceled. Holds past one week are possible but you will be charged a dollar per day for each extra day. We will reach out to you via text or email to arrange a pickup time and place.
Step 6) Purchase and pick up your mice
Payment will be due when you pick up your mice. Cash is preferred, but we can accept credit card payments through Square , or digital payments through Venmo or Paypal with a small fee applied for processing charges. Pedigrees will be provided digitally or with a simple printout for free. We do not offer pedigrees with heavier paper at this time.
Mice are $25 each. Small bags of bedding and food (one of each) will be provided with the purchase of one or more mice to help transition them into their new homes.
Step 7) Quarantine/Settling In period
If you have other rodent or small animal pets in your household (including Guinea Pigs and Rabbits) you must quarantine your new mice in a different air space for a minimum of 4 weeks (preferably longer). Please note that the standard of the AFRMA is 12 weeks minimum.
If you do not already own mice
